DroidPlanner 2.3.3 is out on Google Play Store. This release shouldn’t change much for the average user (just a couple of bug fixes), but it’s a huge improvement for developers.

The changes include (here is the full change log):

  • Support for Hybrid mode.

  • Logs upload to DroneShare (opt in)

  • Miscellaneous improvements on mission planning code.

  • A couple of bugfixes, for example making mode changes work with Hexacopters (and all other copter configurations)

  • Decoupling of drone-specific code from Android UI code

The last item means that all the code relating to the drone and mission state is in a separate library, and can be reused in other GCS applications (it could even be used as the base for a PC/MAC application).

About the first image:

The flight was planned with the new version of DroidPlanner and executed with an Iris. Some pre-planning was also needed to find out the correct path to take, and places to add delay waypoints.

The entire flight was made just using DP2, but with a safety pilot ready to take action. Here is the result:

@Ricardo: The GPS clock is useful, but doesn't belong in the context of DroidPlanner. I have encountered the same problem and use a GPS time app I got from the play store.

  • @arthur: when do you think that feature will be added? I use this a lot in MP.no would be great to be able to use DP to accomplish the same thing.

Great work. No really like the ease of the new format.

  • Arthur, not sure if the best place to ask is here, but please, add a tab with a huge GPS clock. this way, after connected, its easy to take a picture of the time on the tablet (with seconds too, please!) and see the time diference from the camera, so its easier to geotag images.

  • Thank's for this great job Arthur. ¿DP1 support planes?, that a good notice too, It's need a special configuration? I'm going to try :)

@Edgar Scott: That's exactly what I'm working on rigth now, don't forget to join our beta testers group to get it first.

@Joseph : Currently we are not adding the CAM_TRIG_DIST values in the mission, so either you should manually tweak this parameter or use an intervalometer in your copter.

  • I have been having issues setting up Surveys on DP2. I set up the flight plan but it never takes pictures. This was in DP1 and DP2. I can only get it to create a trigger using MP. Any thoughts?
