No Tim.. one little copter... :)
There was more than one vehicle one both sides of the building and there were pedestrians nearby too. It is a nice view of the tower.

This is a different street if you going in to details.. the street was closed :)
I thought you guys would be more interested to discuss issues like the shot movement / smooth etc..
anyway, it was a nice day to fly, enjoy :)

The fact is the American Film industry is one of the few civilian and non-governmental agencies that is already extensively using radio controlled vehicles in their business.
They have used radio controlled planes and copters for years in their special effects for flying and crash scenes in spite of FAA regulations that expressly have forbid these kinds of uses for profit, which clearly, motion pictures are all about.
And now the motion picture and television industry are going to be one of the main commercial users of copters and planes for doing actual filming as well.
The FAA doesn't need to figure out how to put a stop to it or try to punish the people breaking their rules to do it now, they need to proactively develop appropriate regulations that simply ensure it is done in a safe and reasonable manner.

I totally agree, I never fly in the city, Unless there are permits and security.. Iv made sure on the permits allow to fly the little copter and we had insurance etc..
As I mentioned, they also closed the streets, and we flew 2 minutes from a balcony across the street.. (not from the ground). The little copter could not go far and we had few safety things IF anything would happened (lost signal, lipo etc..) also, the battery is really small, so it wouldn't be able to fly too far, trust me.. :)
* also, the copter is lite and small..
Anyway, we are pretty happy with the results and i thought to share that experience.

Sorry for the gloom and doom, I agree that it is a gorgeous video. The implications of this are troubling, however, you don't want to know what happens next if the FAA decides these sorts of operations are inherently hazardous to third parties on the ground...
That doesn't address the actual legality of what you did. Aside from the fact that you had no permission from the FAA, Alameda County, or the City of Oakland to operate a commercial multicopter in Oakland airspace (since none of those bodies are currently granting permission), did you have valid liability coverage for injuries to third parties? What would have happened if RFI or other issues caused a fly-away resulting in a crash in the midst of a very crowded Oakland Chinatown, which is all of a block or two away?
