I know there are instructions for setting up a DX7 and a DX8 to get 6 modes out of channel 5, but the DX7s is a bit different from each of those other transmitters. Here are screen shots of the 3 sets of changes you need to make to use the 2-way Gear and 3-way Flap switches to send 6 different modes down channel 5.
I hope those are legible, My screen is pretty scratched, and of course for the millionth time I wish the display was backlit.

It would be much appreciated.
Just got it to work. the problem was that I had the Gear plugged into the 6th rather than the 5th position on the apm.
Thanks
Did you find the problem?
I had some trouble when I was setting up a DX7 for the first time.
Later on I read that I should try a new model memory and do the calibration again.... I tried and it worked. working fine since then, but I really don`t know what the initial problem was.,..
Maybe you can try this path. Hope this helps
Thanks for this
I am setting up my APM for the first time and in the radio calibration I can select through 6 positions however in the flight modes tab I can only select 3. Rather confused.
I'm using AR 8000, Mine the +5 is middle. Neg is on the outside by writing Elev. Rud.ect. the S. wire from the apmver 2 has 6 ea wires. They are on the back set of the 3 pin rows. +5v always the middle pin and can power APM from any open set of 3 rows so us can use Aux1 to power then using USB power and bind pin in Bind port. If you look closely at the APM they should read pin numbers 1. Elev 2. Alier 3. Throttle 4. Rudder wire 5 goes to Aux 1 on reciever. 6 wire goes to Aux 2. then you need to mix channel 5 + 6. Chan. 5 should be 3 pos switch. 6 is the two pos. switch. Channel 5 is used for your Loiter Alt, hold, RTL.
Awesome! Thanks for this.
That's great! Will try this path because the other way previously suggested didn`t worked for me (It may be me, later I realized I have to add another step).
By the way, I have been having trouble making work the spektrum AR7000 receiver with the APM2 for plane use.... The controls just don't react when unplugged from the Mission Planner. Can't find if there's any post on this (Spektrum AR7000 receiver integration to APM2). Any light will be appreciated!...
Fantastic! I'm going to try it out tonight.
Excellent! Added to the manual here.
