The 4k@15fps is more for people that are trying to get still images from their videos. Sure, you could watch a somewhat jerky video in super high definition but that's not really what it's been marketed for.

  • I just pre-ordered the Silver. Wondering if the Black is worth it considering no-one will use 4k@15fps. The only advantages I see are that it seems to be using a glass 6 element lens, and claims 'professional grade' low light performance (v/s/ 'prosumer grade' for silver). Thanks for being vague GoPro.

  • @Jani, looking forward to seeing what you have.  I am in no hurry for a replacement as of yet.  The GoPro is a good camera, but for the price it has several shortcomings that prevent it from being the ideal aerial camera for small UAS.

  • Just preordered mine! Black edition. Hard to believe it does 4K video, but who the hell even has a monitor to handle that. At 12 fps its barely worth it, but who knows what may turn up. I wonder how speeds of the Memory card are going to come into play, I'll have to find a decently fast and large one for this. Any suggestions on Memory (microsd)?

  • Interesting stuff.  Too bad they have stuck with the rectangle form-factor. It works in some cases (chest mounting) but that's about it.  Every other camera is more streamlined.

I have been interested in the Sony camera because it has built in stabilization.

As for Jello... I dunno.  I can't seem to make Jello.  I have had no problems with my quad, and even rigid mounting it on my helicopter, very minimal jello.

IMO, a huge cause of Jello is all the flimsy camera mount designs.

@Todd, if you are not in hurry, wait a bit. We are going to release one camera shortly that is custom designed for FPV etc use. Release will be on this month. I will post deatils to here soon.

Don't think it's CCD. Not at that price point... But seems like a great deal anyhow. I wonder if I should change the 550D on my octocopter to this one.. :D

  • Its worth the price if it comes with no jello.

  • I wonder if they put CCD or is it still CMOS with rolling shutter in action scenes. And as far as I know, GoPro is for action.

More over, very strange that 30fps is no longer available for many modes like 960p which forces users to convert movies before watching on PC. I've tried many players and all of them can't synchronize audio and video when I'm capturing in >30fps mode.

Great! Looks like GoPro is feeling the pressure from competitors, and has done a substantial upgrade this time. I never felt the V2 was a real upgrade, lacking 1080p60 and in some regards having worse sensor quality then the original.
