The inside of the enclosure is lined with ESD safe open cell foam to ensure the barometric pressure sensor is surrounded by static air and prevent unwanted readings due to airflow over the sensor. Joshua, yes, I understand it would be better with more volts, less amps. The problem is with availability of very low KV motors. There are some on the market, but there are two problems. First, they are very expensive. Second, the low KV motors have timing issues running on SimonK flashed ESC's. I think that these motors have too much torque, and thus they can accelerate very fast, and the ESC can't keep timing going.
Tim P, the power module goes between your battery and your ESC(s). You could use it as you describe, with a separate battery for the power module to just power the APM and receiver, but then it won't be measuring the current draw from your motors.
