It would seem silly to re invent it

The Quanum telemetry system gives real-time, accurate voltage display and low voltage warnings via a robust 2.4Ghz DSSS connection.
The receiver pannel is a large 132x64 LCD and attaches directly to your existing radios antenna for convenient at-a-glance in-flight voltage checks.
The Quanum Telemetry system will also warn you when your battery pack is approaching 3v per cell with a variable audio tone. No more deadstick landings!
And because its 2.4Ghz DSSS it wont interfere with your existing system, no matter what channel youre on!
The Quanum Telemetry system transmits a narrow, lightweight signal 4 times a second and uses DSSS technology to ensure no conflicts with other systems close by. Included is an inbuilt 450mAh Li-ion power source and a convenient in-car and PC USB charge jack!
Specification;
Tx Weight: 16g
Tx Size: 50x17.5mm
Tx Output: 20dBm <100mW 2.4Ghz DSSS
FCC ID: XR9V003
Included;
Large high contrast 132x64 pixel LCD 2.4Ghz Receiver.
1km Range 1~6S Transmitter
Receiver mount (universal type)
Cigarette lighter 5v out USB charger
USB cable. (Charge in car or on a PC)
CE, FCC, RoHS

I wonder if this could be hacked to tell us a little more on the ground, not in colour or hi-res obviously

Signs of things to come. Just thinking its probably useful in itself as a backup battery monitor on the ground.

  • Gary,

    I was considering replacing my 40 MHz Multiplex Royal EVO with a 2.4GHz system when I stumbled upon this post. I was wondering why RC manufacturers didn't developed a system with integrated "feedback" from the airplane yet. I mean, without adding another radio in the plane and another LCD screen + radio receiver on the remote control. All in all, almost all RC have their own display and 2.4 GHz transceivers are quite common and inexpensive. The only system that resembles it, is the Draganfly remote control. But is overkill for low budget users as I am. Did you find anything else, perhaps ?

    Thank you and regards

    Transitter Output is listed as "Tx Output: 20dBm <100mW 2.4Ghz DSSS"

    If you fly 2.4 already, wouldn't this system possibly interfer with the 2.4 radio reciever in your plane? Isn't that basically the same limitations as using a 2.4 video link when you are running 2.4 radio gear?

    To me it looks like good stuff and the price is good but only if you fly something other than 2.4.
  • Gary, I saw this at Ho bby King some times back and it apealed quite nice to me so I ordered this including couple of things and they have been shipped too.

    @Thomas, what I feel is that It should work like just another 2.4GHz radio operating in your neighbourhood.
  • It says the USB is a charge jack(as in power only). What good is monitoring inividual cells if you're not recording the data? If I got a cell going badI will know it before I fly, when I balance the pack. They should add airspeed ,alt
    ect and sell expensive sensors.
  • Its a lot of electronics for not very much information, if it had a range of sensors like the EagleTree stuff then we would be talking but all that just for battery that you can get with a load more data using OSD seems pointless. The radio interference issue alone when balanced against the limited data transfer is enough to make one think twice.

    Gary,

    Would work great for anyone using 35/72 MHz, but the 2.4 GHz transmitter might interfere with the R/C 2.4 GHz signal no matter what the specs say. Nice find though.
