My Ground station Beta 2 modding

About MeI'm a LabVIEW programmer/user by profession and I'm also a keen hobbyist/maker so I came across DIY Drones on my hunt for my next project. (Possibly a quadrotor heli...)I saw the groundstation program and downloaded the code to have a look. I couldn't resist modifying the code to be more efficient and 'proper' and I tinkered with the UI.Ground station Beta 2, MB mod v1 UI Preview

Just a little preview mind, I'm in the middle of refactoring the code to make it scalable. This is my way of giving back to the open source community. I am interested in any comments about desired features in the ground station code, such as integration with google maps, custom controls that look like airplane controls, etc is possible.Credit is due to automatik for the current version of the ground station code that I based my mod on.

  • Here is the link to ArduStation with kml logging ( and will also sho plane's path in real time)

    There is also a version of ArduPilot ground station with speech synthesis ...but perhaps (?) shouldn't go public yet as not to add to confusion and "wild" versions..We should organize and have a common approach. I think Chris will address this tonight / tomorrow

    But as Chris says there is a new GCS on its way.

  • Sgt Ric;

    Thanks for the heads-up! My servos have been in storage for over 20 years. I'll be checking them out but most likely replacing them since new ones are not expensive.
  • Sgt Ric;

    Thanks for the help. I'm sorry for stumbling around a bit trying to find what I'm looking for. Your avatar is basically the design I'm building.

    P.S. careful of older servos... the wires are known to corrode, especially the black pin wires.

    @ M1031... Marb B. is helping to streamline the GUI for the GCS, not the control code that runs on ArduPilot.

    As for the program you are asking about... we would all love to see such a system available off the shelf, but this is primarily a hobby level community in its growing stage.

    You want your PC to fly your plane FPV instead of the plane flying using an AP, while most of the members here are interested in the AP approach.

    Check some of the threads over at RCGroups for FPV flying (I started there before coming here and building a UAV)
