Rod WalkerThe international $50,000 prize UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) Challenge – Outback Rescue competition held in approved airspace at Kingaroy, Queensland, will become a bi-annual event from 2011.

Challenge co-founder and ARCAA director, QUT’s Professor Rod Walker said the changes were being made to the Challenge to give search and rescue teams more time to gain autonomous flight experience and more high school teams the chance to enter.

  • Ha! Seeing what you have done with your GCS, I believe you could pull it off :)
  • I need to find a way to ship a plane directly to the competition field....and have it unbox itself and take-off....then pilot it from here in Ohio.... Two years should be more than enough time to design and build that :)

    this is great. I recently started an Unmanned Development Team at Cooper Union in Manhattan that has its sights set on this competition in the coming years. This gives us more chances to compete and, hopefully, win ;)
