NVIDIA's press release states that "Jetson TX1 is the first embedded computer designed to process deep neural networks -- computer software that can learn to recognize objects or interpret information." The 3.4x2inch module includes a Tegra X1 ARM Cortex-A57 processor with 256-core NVIDIA Maxwell graphics, 4GB of LPDDR4 memory, 16GB of eMMC storage, 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth, and Gigabit Ethernet support.

The Jetson TX1 Development Kit will be available for preorder starting Nov. 12 for $599 in the United States. The kit includes the Jetson TX1 module, a carrier board (pictured below), and a 5MP camera. The stand-alone module will be available in early 2016 (for $299 in bulk).
The Jetson TK1 (not TX1) was released in 2014 to encourage the development of products based on the Tegra K1 processor. However, according to AnandTech, developers were using the Jetson TK1 outright as a production board, choosing to focus on peripheral and software development instead of system hardware development. With the new TX1, all of the I/O connectivity is provided on a carrier board, enabling rapid development on the credit-card sized TX1 module. After development is finished, the TX1 module can be directly deployed in products, such as drones.

Hi Jurgen,
Regarding the 'Jetson PI', is it going to have a connector to access the I2C ports so we can do some hardware control?
Thanks,

Nice summary of what we have discussed here until now Jerry!
When are you going to build it, I'll buy provided everyone, including the manufactures, conform the the license agreements. ;-)
I'd like to propose a Shield for ROS project hardware.

Hi Patrick, we have not tested the CSI-2 ports yet. The problem is hat there is no software yet. Kernel 4.1 now has native support for the Toshiba HDMI to CSI-2 bridge chip, which we use. So this driver needs to be back ported to the 3.10 Kernel which the TX1 uses. The hardware implementation on the J100 is very straight forward. Just routing and signal filtering.
Seems that the v4l driver have been delayed in march....
was pushed out to include critical kernel, DVFS and perf fixes. Current ETA is late Feb/March.
I would be interested by the release 2 when its available.
Will it be an additionnal design in the same campain or a new Indiegogo campain?
Have you had a chance to test the CSI Camera ports?
@Hugues, I am currently exploring the possibility of bundling the TX1 with my carrier boards. I will keep you posted.
I have added more perks on Indiegogo. Now there is the Jetson Pi rev 2 and also the J100.
Also there is a blog at the end of the description where you can see the progress on the layout of the Jetson Pi.
@Jurgen, how much would it be then all in with your carrier board and tx1?
Hi Hugues, if you get my carrier board, you just need the TX1 module and not the complete dev kit. Also there is an educational discount, if you qualify for that.
I doubt that Odroid or alike will be able to match the capabilities of the TX1 in the nearby future. Maybe they do on the ARM side - but what about the integration of a 256 core graphics engine?
But on the other side you are right - early adopters always pay a premium - I paid $5000 for my first cell phone, and it was not even portable. ;-)
Nice carrier board design. But the price of tx1 remains a deal breaker for me. With this carrier board total price is about 800$! My concern is that real soon, you'll find a more performant dev board (from Odroid or alikes) for a tenth of this price. Moral of the story: you need a big wallet to be an early adopter.
