@Quasi It's GBP2,300,000. That's $3,477,966 in USD. The big indicator is that they have 12,000 backers. Which is about 10,000 more than any other million dollar drone crowd sourced campaign.
  • I have been watching this campaign since November and have to say that I am super impressed with the whole thing. Communication and information has been very good and there is some real candid detail in the updates. The product itself is also outstanding, providing many of the autonomous features we are used to along with an HD camera, obstacle avoidance, cool new convenience smarts and more - all in a package smaller, lighter and cheaper than a bag of... Zano is a real step forward in my opinion, no question at all! Seeing it top USD$2.25m is just fantastic.
Someone else might be able to clarify this but I think there may be no rules on model aircraft under 100g in Australia, so this product might well be legal to fly just about anywhere (for recreational use anyway).
  • They told me the price tag will be around 299.00 usd. Seems a bit pricey for what it is.
  • Saw it today at CES. Sure is tiny.
  • I think its less about the technology and more about the marketing, and in a way, as a race we tend to create self fulfilling prophecy's and drones(UAVs) on kickstarter are just a sub branch of the whole "Drones/UAVs will be popular in 20XX" leading up to xmas 2013 and 2014 i saw numerous articles in the news and other publications about quad copters being the most popular gift of this year....

I guess if we write it enough times then it will stay that way.

  • I have this idea...and its really cool...and a drone. So, just go ahead and give me a million now, guys. Thanks! ;)

  • Is this a pump-n-dump?

Even if we assume it all works as advertised feature wise, at that size and weight it will be impractical to use outside. Any wind at all and you can proudly join the "fly-away" club.

  • Exactly Ravi.. I wonder if I could go dig up my apm 1 with the towel rods running the pirates code and put that thing up on a kick starter.

  • Rob, in my experience the magic bullshit always attracts investors whereas reality, no matter how feasible and cool, always struggles to find backing.  I think "blue-sky" investors love to buy into the impossible dream rather than face up to reality.
