Hi all Open-Source enthusiast,
Paparazzi UAV, the real Open-Source autopilot driven by a community of users without an economically driven goal. Today we are adding an extra autopilot board to there long list of supported autopilots.
The Pixhawk autopilot board will be integrated in our next software release! The video shows the first flight with Paparazzi UAV on a Pixhawk, more videos will follow.
Why choose Paparazzi UAV?
If you are looking for an advanced, modular open-source autopilot which has features others can only dream of, you choose Paparazzi UAV.
You can make the comparison between Windows and Linux. For example APM is the Windows unfriendly plug and pay software, While Paparazzi UAV is the Linux of autopilot systems, where everything you can imagine is possible.
We make it possible for you to choose the best software for your needs, on the hardware platforms that are right for your project.
Wishing you successful flights,
The Paparazzi dev team

ppz is the best starting point for your serious UAV study, no doubt, and not limited with that.
but ardupilot is most popular i think.
Hi Paparazzi Team, congratulations on the hardware port! I'd suggest that if you would like to get more exposure to potential users, instead of boisterous text, you generate some interesting videos showing exciting performances such as this:
I would like to try Paparazzi. But why a so aggressive tone??? I hope these are not the words from the whole Paparazzi community.
In the comments section of this video someone said: "I don't know any other community that welcomes new users as friendly and helpful as the Paparazzi UAV one." This post sounds completely different!
That's pretty aggressive from the Paparazzi team, perhaps something was lost in translation.
Here, I've fixed it for you:
ArduPilot is the leading Open-Source autopilot driven by an amazing community of users, assisted by an amazing cooperative of UAV specialists, focused around a not-for-profit that is without an economically driven goal. Today we are opening our doors to helping more people, no matter what their background, to be able to run ArduPilot on a long list of supported and easily available hardware! http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/common-autopilots/
Why choose ArduPilot ?
If you are looking for an advanced, modular open-source autopilot which has features others can only dream of, we encourage you choose ArduPilot, but we're OK with you looking around and maybe trying something else, as we think other efforts like PaparazziUAV, OpenPilot/TauLabs, MultiWii, CleanFlight/BaseFlight/BetaFlight are all great for the larger community, and we really don't like bashing anyone's efforts.
You probably shouldn't be making black-and-white comparisons though, like between Windows and Linux, as it's really not that simple when comparing millions of lines of code with another million lines of code... For examplle we "get" that some people like friendly plug and pay software, so we encourage it, and we also "get" that some like to tune their own frames, and that's welcome too, where everything you can imagine is possible.
We make it possible for you to choose the best software for your needs, on the hardware platforms that are right for your project.
Wishing you successful flights,
Buzz. ( only one of the ardupilot dev team , so my comments do not reflect on the entire group. )
I am actually happy that I will be able to give Paparazzi a whirl on my Pixhawk, it is a positive thing, leaving aside the propaganda and the fact that the poster's crude APM = Windows and Paparazzi = Linux comparison.
As one of the Pixhawk Hardware team, I am really glad to see that you have ported to Pixhawk.... However, it really confuses me as to why you feel the need to create division in the community? PX4 and Ardupilot co-operate, matrix pilot, Taulabs, and others all co-operate.
If you had been paying attention over the last few days, you would have seen that Ardupilot is 100% separate from 3DR, and is continuing strong.
May I suggest a rewrite of that post, and an opportunity for positive support of each others awesome innovations?
paparazzi is a marvellous project, and I greatly admire everything that has been done over many years. No need to be so negative about other projects though. Just enjoy the fact that users and developers have a lot of choice when it comes to open autopilots!
Also, congratulations on getting it flying on Pixhawk! It is a very nice platform (huge thanks to the PX4 project) and this will hopefully open up the world of Paparazzi to a lot more people.
Cheers, Tridge
I don't think it's appropriate to be misleading users with this biased information, and the "comments" section isn't the right place to have a debate about the pros-and-cons of different community groups, but I will say for the record that I feel the above post is full of blatant misrepresentations and errors.
