Pixhawk Infographic

Hi everyone!

I would like to introduce to you the final "Pixhawk Infographic" that I have been working on for a while now... it illustrates some of the tips I have learned over the past few years and shows the components that I would like to use in my own personal quadcopter design.

For the full resolution image please go here (thanks to Gary McCray): http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/advanced-pixhawk-quadcopter-wiring-chart/

In my next blog post I would also like to release some of the original individual PNG graphics for anyone who wants to use them in their own diagrams! Hopefully some of this can be used in the wiki!

I would appreciate it if any mistakes in the Infographic could also be pointed out so that I can make adjustments!

Best regards,

Jethro.

  • Hi Jethro. The channel 3 have the 3 wires connected? (Black, Red and Withe)?

  • Nice job.

Quick word of caution. Its not obvious from the wiki but the RC port is the only one that outputs 5v, all the other end ports seem to be on a common, separate 5v rail.

I tried powering my RX directly from the RC (sbus) port 5v (as your diagram) and was only getting 4.6v (power port top input was a good 5v). I tried driving a micro servo (camera zoom) directly from the RX and the voltage was dragged down still further to 2.6v and had rx brown out. Fortunately this showed up while bench testing.

All my 8 ESC are opto (no 5v out) so I have 2 ubecs. One dedicated to pixhawk top power in and the other feeding the RX directly and also the pixhawk servo rail (providing redundancy). I have not joined the 5v lead between RC port and RX.

The arrangement seems good but its not as straight-forward as it seems.

  • Thanks Jethro.

I have updated the blog post.

  • awesome. how can i get a high resolution version?

  • I'm with Gary M on this one; What about a fixed wing version?

  • Nice Job Jethro,

I have problems with the Compass port on the new Pixhawk 2.4

there are 5 volts at the 3DR GPS / Compass but want only 3.3 volts. What should I do?
Thanks for your help, Regards from Germany Klaus

  • Ah, just saw this now!  A picture worth a billion words!

    Thank you Jethro!

  • Great image! Nicely done here. Hopefully someone can make a version for fixed wing and/or APM2.6

  • No problem! If you PM me your Email I can send them to you...
