Vince Hogg replied to Touchthebitum's discussion Motor poles setting/RPM telemetry
"Im also trying to find a definite answer to this. One forum says to divide the reported rpm by (poles/20). So my 8500 becomes 6071 (28 poles). Im not totally convinced and would like to find a more convincing answer."

Vince Hogg commented on Vince Hogg's blog post 5KG quad for Sony 5000 - 7000 style cameras. Just waiting for Herelink unit.
"79cm diagonal between motors. With 6s 14000 battery it should weigh 5.2kg.
Motors are Dualsky XM5015MR-7."

Nothing revolutionary, just a printed quad that can take the Sony range of mirror-less cameras. Am awaiting delivery of the Herelink unit to complete build. The rest of it - Pixhawk Cube, SimpleBGC, Tmotor 4 in 1 F55A ESC. Batteries from 8000-16000.…

Hi all.Ive just discovered the herelink and think it would be ideal for my new project. Ive have tried to keep the multicopter shell as small as possible but the herelink air unit is quite large, especially if you have 2 HDMI plugs sticking out of…

Vince Hogg replied to Vince Hogg's discussion Pixhawk placement
"Its not that small. 750mm between motors and 6kg with Sony A5000
I would really like to know from the dev team if there is any active compensation for FC location or does it just kinda work with a bit of offset?  I dont think there is any setting in…"

Guys, is this FC to far from CG here. Its about 8cm. Perhaps above the camera CG is a good thing?

Vince Hogg commented on Jared Reabow's blog post Drone causes disruption at Gatwick airport, But where is the evidence AGAIN!
"Ive heard so often that pilots hate drones so i will make a comment.
The majority of pilots grew up wanting to be in that profession. They were interested in anything that flew and many would have been flying RC models as soon as they were old…"

Vince Hogg replied to Gary McCray's discussion Vibration Isolation and Dampening of APM / PX4 for version 2.9
"After getting hold of ninjaflex and trying to print some I realized it was not that easy. Its very difficult to print and is stiffer than I had imagined. However I still think it will make an excellent vibration damping material if used in the right…"

Vince Hogg replied to Gary McCray's discussion Vibration Isolation and Dampening of APM / PX4 for version 2.9
"I have just finished my second home designed 3d printer so have more time to get back to drones now.
There are now a few options for flexible filament to print with so I have just ordered some 'ninjaflex'.  The properties look very much like…"

Vince Hogg replied to Gary McCray's discussion Vibration Isolation and Dampening of APM / PX4 for version 2.9
"Gary, about those adjustable shocks.
I had some designs at an early stage incorporating RC car shocks like these.
I was thinking of using 3 to suspend the gimbal. They offer so much 'tune-ability' and are quite light but may be better at removing…"

Vince Hogg replied to Gary McCray's discussion Vibration Isolation and Dampening of APM / PX4 for version 2.9
"That question shows good understanding of the problems. High yaw demand can have the 2 opposite corners doing all the lifting and so twist the frame.
I was concerned about torsion in the main frame. Not the ability of the spiral wrap carbon tubes…"

Vince Hogg replied to Gary McCray's discussion Vibration Isolation and Dampening of APM / PX4 for version 2.9
"Thanks Gary.
I was doing many 'tuning in' flights when when the things all went missing. Its a laborious process doing flights, adjusting and trying again but things were showing good promise.
Do you remember my octa that used silicone o rings. They…"

"I think I used these but seem to remember there were 2 duo ratings available at the time. I think I used 70 on copter and 50 on gimbal. Either way my design allowed the sorbathane to be compressed and so adjusting the stiffness quite a lot.
Here is…"
