This is the quad.

It is 2.2kg, using 4s 5Ah battery
I have been using these motors for some time now.
They are OK but the shafts, being 3.1mm are easily bent. I have replaced the shafts many times but after every minor ‘mishap’ it is difficult to decide if they are bent or not, especially when the label is on wonky. Also the small bearings take a hammering and are now getting rough. One motor is defiantly wobbly even with new shafts so I guess the case is bent.
I did order some himodel ones but that were totally useless and have just discovered were end of stock – discontinued.

The current motors are 530kv, so big slow props, 14x4.7. It hovers at 15A and am getting about 15 min flights with reserve.
I want to keep the low Kv (due prop efficiency) but that limits the choice. Will stretch to 650kv max. Also I will only consider 4mm shafts.
This is probably a perfect choice but is overpriced bling.

I have a Pulso motor on an aircraft.
Very good well built motors but nothing that fits the bill.
Endless googleing has not uncovered the perfect motor.

Just wondering has anyone tried the 2538 motors that hobby king sells ? Are they reliable ?
Hi Vince,
I don't have the perfect motor for you,but maybe you find this information useful. After my frustration with jDrones AC2836 880kV motor (http://diydrones.com/forum/topics/performance-problem-with-jdrones-...) I tried another one,the AC5010 500kV with the Carbon prop as advertised (http://store.jdrones.com/AC5010_358_Disk_Motor_p/ac5010358.htm). This time the provided data and my measurements are almost identical - the jDrones advertising claims 4s, but I get their thrust with 3s, also check their W and A :-))). With 4s I get basically the same curve as with 3s, but with considerably more power at full throttle. Engine had 41° Celsius on the windings after 5min with 100%.
I guess you know its cousin from RCtimer D5010 360kV:http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1528612
Himodel sells similar stuff i.e. http://www.himodel.com/electric/HL_W42-30_400KV_Outrunner_Brushless... (look for one that fits your size)
I am waiting for another motor and will measure this one hopefully next week: http://ahm-rc.de/product_info.php?products_id=834
Grandma used to say: Buy a good one, we can't afford a cheap one !
