south bay blackhawk

Anyone see the blackhawk flying circuits over the south bay? Bet it was autonomous because it was over unpopulated areas, in line of sight of Mountain View, & flying an extremely boring mission.

    It was not mine.
  • I saw Blackhawk again over marshes in Newark today. It was flying straight , then performed very well held and coordinated ~45 deg banked 360 turn , then continued in straight line, and repeated turning and so on

Brian, the reason Jack is speculating on this is that he was on the tour of NASA Ames with us where we saw the Blackhawk flying autonomously. Granted that was on base, and not over built-up areas, but there are definitely robot Blackhawks flying in South Bay. That said, I doubt the one he saw was one of them.

Jack... No offence, but this post does not do you any justice. I'll go out on a limb here and say most mil stuff has capability to go autonomous, but unmanned in the bay area... No way. Risks are simply too high and protocols don't allow.
  • I saw Blackhawk making turns near Newark (over marsh areas and bay/water) - which is "spitting" distance from AMES

Powerful binoculars required, or do they put dummies in the seats? No don't answer that. No in fact do, are they OPV's?? Optionally Piloted Vehicles!
