Dear All

we have moved to a new website www.one-man-drone.com. It gives an idea on how the system will look!

After testing of motors and props and the carbon fiber tubes, we are currently building the craft. We have done quite some R&D to take all the steps in designing and received lots of comments. Thanks for that!

Will keep you updated when we move in a few weeks to the tests. Will start without fuselage and use sand bags, don't worry!! We have done quite some R&D on the technical part, the market, certification, and RPAS applications firefighting, agriculture. We see it can become professional after the demo. Any suggestions welcome!

  • God to ensure you're still at it.  I remember your first post and the "abuse" over your idea.  

    I'm thinking though,  12 motors - you lose one and all you lose is a bit of lift.  You still have control.  All (manned) helicopters that I know will crash with a single engine failure. So...  Why bother with a parachute? You're not being any more dangerous. 

    Why worry about protection from prop failure? The bombardier dash-8 would have a few painter infused pax if one let go. 

    Awesome idea,  keep at it.

  • Dear Frederic, the  advantage is that it is more compact 3 by 4 m, more easy to control and handle and lower cost if electric storage becomes better. Completely programmable. Indeed propulsion efficiency is lower as compared to a single rotor, and that is a choice!  Best Winfried

  • Not yet, we had conversations with them in an early stage. We aim to have redundancy by 1) 12 separate power and propulsion systems 2) next  to have 3 independent control systems (as with commercial aircraft;  there are professional systems we want to use. 

  • what I do not really understand with that kind of project, is what is the advantage over an helicopter? it will be heavier and the propulsion efficiency is lower...

  • It is in the structure or in the rectangular section to reduce weight of cables and reduce losses. The Hybrid version will contain a 35 kW generator set.

  • Yes for sure we are in conversation  with the manufacturer of such rescue para-equipment. It will be giving us a rescue height of 30 meters, but we can even specialize it to come to 5 meter.  I did not no the mule, will check!

  • parachute would be a must-must requirement. the parachute ejection system has to be interlinked with the power cutoff system to all motors. may be u can take some ideas from 'Mule' which is a engine powered octacopter already being used. but mule is a pilotless cargo carrier. but very interesting project to see the first piloted octacopter.

    It is when piloted from the inside, but as you can see on the pict gallery we have also Remotely Piloted versions in agriculture and firefighting, parcels delivery,  etc in mind...
