1 of my 2 Ublox modules has developed a problem. It refuses to get a fix. I am monitoring it with Ucenter and see that it is operating, it is tracking 7 or 8 satellited from inside my house, but it won't get a fix. I notice that it is getting the correct UTC time, but it cannot tell the date! I assume this is why it can't solve for a fix. I have reset the configuration and performed several cold starts. Not sure what else to try??? Any suggestions?
I'm jumping in here late, but can you tell me what minimum voltage I need to supply to the ublox5 (antenna) to get an initial fix? I'm using the GS407 from sparkfun and your little adapter board. When I power it from my FTDI cable (measured at exactly 5.00v) the gps works awesome. When I power it from my UAV (4.8v receiver battery pack) it never gets a lock, never get satellites, etc. I don't think it's a hardware issue because it works beautifully when powered from the FTDI cable, it just doesn't see satellites when powered by my UAV avionics battery. Any ideas/suggestiosn?
Well, yeap something is wrong! Six hours is more than enough i guess. A batch of GPS coming from them were "defective", they had a weak antenna... We tested every unit before shipping, but in some point they failed.
The incoming devices are fixed now, but this ones i have to send them back to the factor( they will repair it for you)....
IF anybody have a defective uBlox units, send it some and i will send it to the factory for a FREE repair...
Hi Jordi, thank you for the response. I did what you menioned and after several minutes I've got nothing showing satellites or any GPS fix.
Please note below my u-center screen.
That is just telling the messages is outputting. Press F9 -> UBX - >NAV - >SVINFO. make right click on SVINFO and click on Enable Message.... THen you will know how many sats you are viewing.
If you want to see a graph (better) go and click on the tab "View" --> Docking Window --> Satellite View.. That will open a windows that will show you the SVINFO visually...
If you don't see any bar after 30 seconds... Let me know pelase
Hi Jordi, I think I've got a bad ublox from you... I can connect to the device via the FTDI cable directly connected to the little board also purchased from you, although after leaving it for more than 1 hour outside my window with sky view it do not get a lock.
Looking at the u-control system, it just shows the following messages:
Hi Jordi,
I checked today. It hasnt been mailed out yet. It's still sitting in the school's mailroom. It'll probably go out tommorow. I'll send you an email and als put in a copy of your email tha you had sent with the address etc for you to verify.
