I am interested in using the Ardupilot for a ground vehicle application, and I need to enter a large number of waypoints for many different parts of the country. Saving and retrieving the waypoints is a must. I will also need to use an external EEPROM, but that is a different story. I wrote a waypoint editor that can help users manage a large number of files, and, also, save *.KML files for display on Google Earth. I will be very glad to share the editor with anybody, and, if enough people have interest, I'll post both the executable and the source here. It also allows you to create a track with the shape of a regular polygon. Here is a screen dump of a track at the Boulder , CO Model Airplane field on Google Earth.
Hello Cronselaar,
Thank you for the comments. My plan is, in effect, upload the waypoints to the ardupilot with the program. I am still working on it, (unfortunatly, I don't have much time to dedicate to it). You will see that the interface is slightly different from the one I posted. Also, Jordi is also working on a similar project and we are cooperating. He is planning to sell his version for just a little bit of money, and if he does, I don't think I want to compete against him by making my program available. In any case, I'll send you the program as it stands right now. I'll send you an email directly to you for you to let me know at what email address I can send you the program.
Hi, this is very nice! Is it possible to upload the waypoints to ardupilot with the program? Could you also possibly supply me with the executable? Looks really neat
We've been hoping The Goog would improve the path editing already in Google Earth, but there's only so much you can expect from a $319 stock. Writing a parallel Google Earth to get waypoint editing may be the only way. Turns, altitude dragging, landing, curved paths, & grouping would be nice. Maybe when GOOG gets up to $1000 they'll throw in adsense waypoints.
