  • Aeropixel, to create what you want, create a custom mix in your transmitter that turns your mode channel output to low whenever one particular 2 channel 'panic button' switch is flipped and overwrites your other switch positions.  Or, I mixed two three-position switches together so that when one of the switches is in the down position, rtl is triggered regardless of the other switch's position.

Because Plane is clever.  A Plane can only be in one mode at any time.  Its a waste of RC channels to have a whole channel dedicated to a mode.  So, instead Plane supports FLTMODE_CH.  A single channel where you can set 6 different modes by configuring 2 switches correctly on your transmitter.  If you make both switches all the way down or up as RTL then that can be your "panic button".

  • @ Aeropixel I agree I don't know why all options aren't available on 6,7 or 8 or even 9 for that matter. What could be the reason for this I have no idea...

  • Hello friends.
Howcome in an plane APM there isn't the option to set rc6, rc7 or rc8 as RTL mode like there is in copter?
I wanted to set RTL mode on a 2-position switch as a "panic button" instead of using it on the traditional flight mode rc5 channel, but on RC#_FUNCTION there isn't the possibility to select RTL.
Is it possible that one can't make a dedicated panic button on a plane? Is there a reason for removing RTL from the function options on plane? I tried to find a justification for that removal, but I have found nothing.
    Thank you.

@Mark  you can find out about the beaglebone and the Pixhawk fire cape here.  It is now being sold and developed by Erle Robotics

  • I am new to Beaglebone and Pixhawk firecape, i would like to purchase it and start learning about it, however i can not fine out how to install the system to the Beaglebone black, any information will be greatly appreciated, I feel bad asking, Thank you

  • How i wish i can buy 1 from 3DR. I know that 3DR is a great company. But due to lack of Financial support I'm trying to find the cheap yet quality assured APM.
  • That's a loaded question!  My opinion is, if it works, then it's not a bad deal.  I won't say it's a good deal because you will probably NEVER get any support.  If you want the real deal, then you need to spend a little extra and purchase it from the factory, 3DR,  Although I have had some frustrations with my Pixhawk, the folks at 3DR have worked with me on resolving the issues which have really been my lack of knowledge on the product.

Buy it from 3DR because YOU WILL need support.

  • Hello everyone,

I'm a complete beginner with zero experience in building planes and in the process of learning (via youtube/and this forum). My first project is going to be a skywalker X5, all parts are ordered and in the house.

My first question is with regard to setting up a Turnigy X9 transmitter & what to set/not to set under the FUNC options. There are a couple of dozens different items there and I have no clue what most of them were.

What I'm looking for is some basic numbers/parameters  to be set to start with.
Hope that makes sense. TIA for your help.

Cruise speed

Hi,I want to adjust cruise speed. At default settings I have a ground speed of about 42km/h (without airspeed sensor), and I think the optimal speed should be lower. In the mission planner I have value "Cruise speed", default 12m/s. I updated it to 9.5, but don't see any change in actual cruise speed. How to set cruise speed? Are these different settings with RTL speed? For RTL I prefer keep it as is - less efficient, but more reliable. Is it possible to adjust cruise speed during flight, providing…

Long distance LiPo

I'm currently building a Talon (v3), mainly waiting for parts. While looking for high capacity batteries I found out two things; There are a lot of brands, and prices are still steep in the high-cap regions.I've also seen a few people on the Tube using 18650 cells, but none of those explain why.Does anyone here have experience with these custom 18650 packs? And which 'cheap' brands of standard 5~12A 4S seem to work best?I'm going to use an Emax GT3526 710KV swinging a 13x6.5 prop, which should…

Quad plane pitch problem

Hi I have been setting up 2 quad planes, pretty standard setups...flying wing with 4 vtol motors and a rear mounted pusher motor. Both builds wich are on different firmware versions have reversed pitch in quad mode but correct pitch and pitch stabilisation in plane mode. I cannot for the life of me find a parameter related solely to quad pitch reversal. Is there anyone out there that can help with this? Thanks.

PreArm Check Error : Gyros inconsistent

Hi guys, I have a Pixhawk from Radiolink and always in every first attempt of armed I get the error "PreArm: Gyro Inconsistent".The most strange thing is that i'm using only the external gyro+compass. i disabled the internal to avoid this issue. Also- I tried to recalibrate the gyros at least 5 times.- I changed the firmware version from the latest to the 3.8.53 because i have a friend with the same board and he does not have issues. But i have the same behaviorIf i disconnect the battery and…
