a few quesition on the APM

Hey guys! Flying with the APM a bit on my quad before i put it on my aerial photography hex just to get familiar with it. I have a few questions.

1. Does the APM board include a telemetry unit when purchased? (i think its the unit i received that goes in series with the battery) also if so, what frequency does the telemetry unit use so i can purchase a usb unit for APM planner.

2. My orientation appears to change based on my compass reading in stabilize mode. Is this normal? Basically if i YAW the quad 180 degrees the back of the quad becomes the front based on the pitch. If i pitch forward, the back of the quad will go forward, if i pitch backwards, the front of the quad go backwards. YAW 180 again and the front goes forward and back goes backwards? Is this normal?

3. RTL/RTH not working. My RTL basically just flies away!

and lastly, HOW can i get RTL to actually LAND on its own?

Thanks guys!

  • Hi,

    1. Telemetry is purchased separately. It is not on board the APM and is not inline with the battery.

    2. If the "simple" option box is ticked in unison with the "Stabilize" mode, your model will exhibit the behavior you described.

    3. Do you have GPS installed?

  • 1.  No. That's the power module, to measure the volts and amps your from your battery. You need this. It's 433 or 915 Mhz.

    2.  Sounds like your in simple mode. Did you read the manual?

    3.  See # 2.

    4. One thing at a time. It's not that pnp. Do a little more reading.

    5. If it was that easy, every one would be doing it!?
