There's a person at work selling their netbook and I'm wondering if it would run this ground station. Here's a link showing one that is the same model.

They upgraded the RAM to 2 GB, swapped the HD to a 16 GB solid state drive (I can change it back out to a regular drive with more storage), and it currently has Ubuntu 11.10 on it. I plan on installing either XP or Win7 if it will run W7 so I can run the ground station. I'm still trying to figure out how I would install Windows on a DVD on it since it doesn't have a DVD drive but there has to be some way to do it.
Anyway, a quick response would be appreciated as I don't want this deal to slip past.
Thanks!

It's tough to tell what kind of power is required. There are lots of things you can "tweak" to make it run including slower update rate and no 3D models. It will probably work, but you might not have super fluid movement in some areas.
The three biggest processor hogs in HK GCS:
1) Fast updates of GE (try 1-2 Hz)
2) The 3D Model in the instruments (can be disabled)
3) Smooth Instrument movements (can be disabled)
What OS are you all running? I noticed one running XP. Would Windows 7 Starter be enough (doubtful) or would upgrading to the full Windows 7 be best?
Thanks for the replies! Looks like someone beat me to the netbook but I have found a few locally on Craigslist that may work out as well.
I run Map Planner fine on my Acer Aspire One. It's only got 1gb of memory, and I'm running Windows XP.
andrew out of interest, how did you install windows without the dvd?
