Hello all,

I will have a big party next month and would love to have a follow me drone with 4K video streaming over WI-FI record the show over several hours. I don't own any drone at the moment but looking into getting one ASAP.

Battery power is the big issue since battery life is short on drones. I was thinking of having several precharged batteries to swap them out as they drain.

I would really appreciate any help or suggestions that could point me in the righ direction. I have a machine to help build things if needed ( http://stepcraft.us/ ;)

Thanks!!!

  • I am about to suggest something and somebody already posted it... hover camera passport also a good products, it have "follow me" function, and you can tag it yourself and it follows you everywhere

  • As for building your own, there is a TON of information you'll have to learn way before you're able to successfully fly a mission as you describe.  If you're looking for a all in one solution that is pre-programmed to do just what you're asking, research the DJI Mavic.  I hate proprietary software because you're limited to their preset options; with something like the pixhawk, you can program it to do basically anything and add any sort of peripherals.

I highly suggest looking up the Mavic and similar RTF systems.

  • That is awesome!!!! Thanks for the share Diven!! The price is right too!! I'll definitelly look into it! :-)

  • Yes, I like this video very much, too.

I think Wingsland S6 is very suitable for you, first it is very easy to use, you can through your phone to control it, and it is very small, you can put it in your pocket; second it is a  UHD 4K intelligent camera handheld drone, It has "auto follow me" mode,

In this mode, aircraft will be like a spirit by your side and shoot automatically. Users can improve auto follow me aerial safety by expanding all modes.

At last it is very cheap, only need 400$, you can know more from here:

  • Hello Andre,

I appreciate the info and you're right about the Solo with "infinity tether"....... https://www.hoverflytech.com/products/hoverfly-tether-kit-for-3dr-solo .....Wow! That is awesome!! Is there such a thing for small budgets??

I was thinking of setting a drone on a "rolling pedastal" so I could save baterry and just "glide it" into position whenever needed saving precious battery. Is there such a thing? Maybe I can custom make one....hmmm....decisions-decisions :-)

  • Clearly a job for Solo , with "infinity tether"
  • I've been googleling around and found exactly what I need...but the price is a bit high. Does anybody know of a DIY similar to this?
