Almost lost the quad today. I found it about a mile away from the field. Took it apart trying to download the logs to find out what the H happened.

It's not a meltdown, its a poorly soldered (flowed) voltage level translator.
Most likely fell apart on impact, but cuch light component should not get ripped off before heavier components, and - it's clearly not flowed correctly - jusging by the pads.
