Strange Yaw issues with Arducopter 2.8

Hello -

I have been getting into FPV lately, so my need for reliable flight has increased exponentially!

Anyway, I just recently upgraded from an APM 1.4 + oilpan to an APM 2.5. Rest of specs:

KDA20-22L motors

Turnigy Plush 18A ESCs w/ SimonK firmware

10x4.5 props gemfam props

APM2.5

uBlox LEA-6 GPS

900MHz Xbee pro

Randomly, the copter will start yawing uncontrollably. It spins several times and then finally stops. I can't recall if it is spinning the same direction each time or not, but when FPVing this is scary! Anyone experienced this issue?

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,

Jamie

  • I am a newbie, but I've had some yaw related issues because I placed power wires too close to the manometer. The power flowing through the wires would screw up the heading and cause it to yaw... not like what you describe, but it's a thought.

This was especially true when applying sudden throttle and more current went through the wires.

I moved the wiring away from the APM and the problem was resolved.

  • This is a common effect when your battery gets low and one motor or ESC stops responding or slows down.

Download your logs and have a look, they will show you what is happening.

You may need to go into Logs and enable motors to check the output.

    Or just Terminal/Logs/enable all
