Trouble with RTL ! It Depend on what?

Why the plane(  skywallker \ APM v2.70) don't come back  immediately  in RTL mode?  It just turn off the throttle and dive without swerve!   It  should it turn around at once?   It Depend on what?  somebody help me !

  • I had the same problem not even an hour ago, after setting the height to 10000 CM.... it is actually in cm like the planner says, not m, right? It decided ground height was the perfect height to fly at, regardless of the fact that the plane was only about 70-100 feet up, but luckily, I keep my finger on the manual switch.... but the same thing happens when I set to Auto mode to go to a loiter waypoint at 50ft, then at 100ft.....throttles down and dives hard. FBWA works well, minus some minor level and trim adjustments I need to make, but Auto and RTL hate me.... does RTL return to the launch site, or if I set the home to somewhere slightly different, does it go there? Any ideas? The plane is a Hobbyking AXN floater, very similar to an Easystar, just about 1 foot smaller.

    Yes, sounds right. Lol yeah, 7kms of hiking but luckily I had a HK ESC that beeped when throttle was down... I'll never badmouth HK stuff again :)

    Come to think of it - it's the second time I destroyed a plane on a mountain - the first time I purposely changed to RTL thinking it will come back and lose alt at the same time - looks like it's losing alt first, then come back.

    Your rtl altitude is probably wrong. I've had rtl happen on top of a mountain and it's not good.
