0 What do the numbers 550 or 650 refer to in quadcopters? Posted by al on May 14, 2019 at 3:04am I see some components such as ESCs say 'rated for 550/650 class quadcopters', but what is a 550 class? Size? Weight? Thanks You need to be a member of diydrones to add comments! Join diydrones Email me when people reply – Follow

I
250, 550, and 650 refer to the distance, in millimeters, between the vertical shafts of the farthest opposing motors on a multi-rotor SUAV, and thus size. Greater the distance usually corresponds to heavier machine requiring a higher amperage ESC.
that is non sense ESC are rated for AMP draw as it relates to motor KV & Prop size . 550/650 craft AMP draw depends on motor and prop size !
