Be careful with 3D printers in crowdfunding campaigns
Be careful to buy 3D printers in crowdfunding campaigns !One of the most commons errors that startup companies do is to sell at too much low prices their printers in the crowdfunding campaign .Then they will do not have enough money to build and ship the printers when some extra cost arise, i.e. the express courier do not maintain shipping quote. The more they succeded with the campaign the more they will have problems to ship the printers. With the paradoxically situation where you'll find in…

There is 3d software like blender and onshape that is easy to use so you can easily put your ideas to a .igs file. Almost any library has a 3d printer and will print out your files for an small fee $5 for a decent size part. Some even let you use the machine if you bring your own filament.
Hi Bill,
Sorry for the late reply, but I'd like to add to Andrew's comment. I too had a good experience with 3D hubs. I printed a customized cam holder with bearings and all. You only need to provide the STL file. Warning: 3D hubs will "optimize" the fill rate of your model. It tends to make it lighter, but might compromise structural strength. I don't know if there's any setting for this.
Hope this help. Cheers,
@andrew , @joshua - Thanks. I'm going to try both. Andrew, can you send me an email or tweet direct. Where are you located ?
tweet me @billrockus
Trying using the official 3D Printing Service of CADDrones.com which is 3DHubs.com! You should be able to find someone local using that.
I don't have a 3D Printer, but I would like to print some parts. Rather than build a 3d printed fuselage, I am using carbon fiber tubes and plates. What I would like to do is print the tube clamps and other hardware on a 3D printer and reinforce them with CF/Epoxy. I have used Shapeways before, but I would really like to find someone local who can do the printing for me. I need fast turn around which I don't get from Shapeways.
