iPod/iPad battery?

Does anyone know if you could use a 5000mAh battery in an ArduCopter if it is designed to be an external battery for an iPhone/iPad?

THANKS!

Description of product from Monoprice.com follows:

External Battery Pack and Charger for iPad®, iPhone®, iPod®, and other USB Mobile Devices (5000mAh) - Black

Keep your iPad®, smartphone, Playstation Vita™, and all your other mobile devices fully charged where ever you go with this External Battery Pack and Charger from Monoprice!

This external battery measures 4 5/16" x 2 3/4" x 5/8", allowing it easily fit into a pocket or purse. It carries a maximum charge of 5000mAh, so it can fully recharge the battery of any existing mobile phone or tablet and still have charge to spare.

To charge your device, simply plug one end of a USB charging cable into the device and the other into one of the two USB ports on this battery pack. One port can provide up to 1 amp of 5 VDC charging power, while the other provides up to 2.1 amps, which is enough to charge the iPad at full speed. Both ports can be used at the same time, but the total power output will be 2.1A, divided between the two ports.

The battery pack itself is also charged using a USB power source. Four LEDs on the battery pack display both the existing charge and recharging status. The button on the front of the battery pack is used to check the charge status and to turn on or off the charging output. A 30" USB A male to USB micro-B male cable is included.

  • Arturo, I don't think this battery is suitable for an arducopter. The outputs are USB. Most arducopter run on 3S batts that have 11.1 Volts. USB is about 5V. Why not just get an HK 3S pack that already has XT-60 connectors?

For quick change just use velcro hook and loop strap and simple XT-60 connectors.

  • Hi Arturo,

Hot swappable battery packs could be very handy.

Never think about it but if you look to swappable hard drives............

Inductive charging could also handy if you build a fully autonomous bot.

  • hello Arturo,

    For what goal?

If your discharge rate not exceed max c rate, why not.

HK got several 1S lipo cel's for less
