    I think he means he snapped it off.

    You can use an Atmel programmer like this one for sure to upload the firmware.  You'd need to download the correct hex from the firmware.diydrones.com site and then use the programmer to upload it.  The programmer attaches to the 6-pin SPI port which is on the left side of the board.
