Welcome! Documentation editors play a key role in the DIY Drones community. Our ongoing discussions and efforts for the Ardupilot.com sites can be found here at the APM Wiki Editors Discussion Group. The best way to get involved in documentation is to pay the Editors Discuss group a visit, request to join the group, and start participating!
If you'd like edit permission on the Ardupilot.com manual sites, to fix or add something, please join the group above. We'll send you an introductory email with information about how to get started editing the APM Wikis.
This group here on DIY Drones has mostly just an organization role; it's a way for people who would like to join the documentation team to register their interest, and to show them the correct steps in getting started.

Welcome to Alex Paskulin, as 3DR's new technical writer she will be playing a big role in this group and the mission to complete the new wikis. You will be seeing a lot of her around here.
Big thanks go out to Gary McCray for his tireless work on writing new pages for the PX4, moving content over from the old wiki, and building a table of contents for all of these pages. Everyone that uses these wikis will benefit greatly from his work!
So moving forward, the list of goals we have come up with is:
Do any of you have more things to add to this list?
Hello All,
The new wiki is out of maintenance mode now.
Sandro and Max have made some helpful changes to the wiki structure, there is more work to do on the menu bar order, and mobile compatibility issues.
Anybody who is interested in being a wiki editor should please let me know, so that I can give you access.
I'll make another update to this note in a bit...

Hi everyone, looks like the Wiki is back open for editing again.
No longer in maintenance mode anyway and actual wiki pages may be edited
Although the base pages are not open to our editing, everything under the "Instructions" tabs in the ArduRover and ArduPlane sections is editable.
And everything accessible through the "Table Of Contents" reference in the upper right part of the base pages in APMcopter is editable.
I do notice that a lot of dashboard selections previously available such as Appearance and Menu are no longer available and that does make it impossible to insert remove or modify the position of menu items in the APMplane and ArduRover menus.
Wondering how to handle this as there is a LOT missing from the APMplane menu and ArduRover still needs to be massively redone?
Are you planning on eliminating the "Instructions" tab drop down menu completely in these wikis as well and wanting them converted to a table of contents like the APMcopter section?
Hello everyone.
I am Nathan (aka. OnlySunday here), joined earlier this morning (UTC+8).
Can't agree more about the importance of document translations emphasized by Joshua. Glad to do anything I can to help promote UAV/ArduXXX innovations among rc enthusiast here in China. That's why I wanted to be here basiclly. (thanks again, Chris&Joshua)
By quickly went over comments here in this group, I assume I could catch up with you guys, or at least got a rough picture of what had been going on.
You guys absolutely did a great work, and put such a great deal of efforts to run this community. That is really impressive. My salutes!
I know that in user-driven open source communities, initiative contribution is the most important thing and always be honored. But, I'll always be open to any kind of advises or working orders , since you guys know more about what is important and urgent.
At least, I could help introduce your excellent works to the Chinese crowd. :-) Always hope I could do more. (e.g. I had been maintaining several wordpress&discuz installations for about 7 years.)
Rgds,
Nathan
The new manuals are going into maintenance for a bit. Max, Sandro, Alex and myself are going to go through and get things back in line with the plan: separating PX4 and APM, re-building the menues, adding up to date media (photos and videos), and editing all the confusing and incorrect pages.
In the mean time, those of you who are interested in adding to the wiki can still make inputs on the old wiki. Consider that a place to make rough drafts for any additions or changes you would like to include in the new wiki.
Hi Mohammed,
Really happy you are going to be doing that, the MinimOSD has been conspicuously absent from the APMcopter site.
Happy to help any way I can.
Some of the tips I put in to our editors forum might help, especially if you aren't too familiar with WordPress.
Here: http://ardupilot.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2&sid=ab8680...
And Joshua it might be a good idea to stick the larger version of that board (and maybe any similar ones as well) in the APMcopter Images repository so it could be used directly or edited appropriately in Photoshop or Paint.
I'm working on trying to put together a rank beginner APM and PX4 developer page.
This has been an important goal for me for some time, but it is only recently that the PX4 system looks like it is finally becoming coherent enough to make it a reasonable undertaking.
Right on. Let me know if you need anything. It sounds like you have the ability to create some photos of the board and it's connectors, for the sake of consistency and clarity please match this style:
Ok Josh, I'll do that section then :-) Finally something to do :D
Hi Kabir,
Sounds good :-)
Gary and Josh,
I'm building a new long-range FPV copter, and will be using MinimOSD and APM on it (Just ordered the OSD), and I was thinking that I could do the MinimOSD section of the new wiki. It seems to be missing from the new wiki ATM.
Let me know what ya think. Please keep the OSD section reserved for me in the case of accepting my proposal.
Kabir
