Oh David, PLEASE don't do that. These are heavy metals - we don't want them in tips ! You made some good attempts at safety but no attempt at environmental protection. It is also completely illegal !!! Hazardous Waste Act 1989, with heavy fines.
Every recycle and disposal centre I have been to take them. The one at Nillumbik takes all types of batteries and has them all recycled.

It is easy to google battery recycling and disposal in your council, or ring local council office. Or drop off your battery to one of the Mobile Phone recycle stations.
Hi Jerry,
Completely discharge them to 0v then cut and strip the leads, twist them together and tape off. You can then just throw it in the bin.
Some people attach a light bulb on them just to make sure they're completely discharged.
Does anybody in Melbourne have any suggestions as to how we should be properly be disposing of our old LiPo batteries?
Hey guys - looks like I will be heading out tomorrow morning. Going to head to Deakin University to try out a few things so if you're thinking about heading out, let me know.
Deakin Uni around 0900.
Cheers.
Skyfun Mk2 build in progress, but I don't think I'll be ready for next weekend. I'll still come along UAV-less in the hope that Byron will actually fly something! ;)
Hey guys,
Well after several weeks of travelling and head down it's probably about time we held another catch up.
In the last little while, a few of us have discovered some good open flying spots and also found a decent flying club that isn't against the use of multi-copters. So we'll have to try one of those out soon.
I also have my carrying device working well. Perfectly when just controlled via RC and just needs some fine tuning when doing the auto mission. It is working but would like to add some pause / timing points.
Let's aim for some flying next weekend, place is optional as always.
Cheers.
Damn it... Why do you always hold these things when I'm interstate!!? (:
Enjoy it - maybe you can take some pics of the event and post them here?
