  • I came close to buying one of these:

I have just bought one of their M8N GPS units and it is awesome - good spec, good price, good design, works well out of the box. Will do a side-by-side review against my 3DR GPS on the same copter when I get it back.

That said there is only $50 difference now with the genuine pixhawk.

    • I had good experience with RC timer, they send me an incorrect RM frec for their mistake and they respond sending the correct one and not have to re-send the incorrect one.

    • Likewise. They sent me a gimbal and forgot one of the cables. Quick email, they resent it.

They don't really have a choice though - I had a dispute with another Chinese reseller about soemthing. They did not want to know anything about it and eventually ignored emails.

I opened a dispute with PayPal, gave an account of what happened and they refunded me all my money.

Buyer is king from these guys so for the sake of lost postage, they have to make-good or they will lose everything.

    • Me, any dispute, only mail and respond, they looks serious chineses, I think that there are all type of persons in the hole word; serious and not serious.

    Hi Cala,

I understand the confusion with the 3DR Pixhawk as Foxtech is here infringing opensource rules by reusing the exact same commercial name and by not disclosing their board is based on opensource PX4 hardware. Or maybe it is not even based on that and then I would not trust an unknown hw design. People could mistake this board as being the 3DR board.

if ordering from Europe is easier for you,  get another compatible board like the AUV-X2 from Nick Arsov ( http://arsovtech.com/?lang=en ), fully APM compatible and very compact (plus servo connectors instead of DF13).

    • Good idea Hugues, I never try from Europe, perhaps is easier fr us, up to now I bougth the 3DR controllers here to official distributors but not always You can find what you want or new models, the last copter I bougth a chinese controller because 3DR wasn't sending outside USA but says RC Timer on the board, they use they own name, I'm know what I was buying and no problem, work perfect; that's give me better feeling that if it have a name that it wasn't the manufacturer; I bougth there T-Motors ........they are original????? GLUP!!!!

    • I can vouch for the AUV-X2. Great board. Also check out Virtual Robotix uBrain from Italy which uses a version of 32 Bit AC you can load through Mission Planner (as does the VR Brain, which has more IO options and is more expensive).

    • Marc - Do you have some pics of an install? I like the Pixhawk but the DF13's are a real PIA. Not being able to make up our own cables is frustrating. I'm looking for something else to try out.

    • @D I:

Check my AUAV-X2 installation proposal >>here
