For those of you who feel that the new, improved Pixhawk, that Chris Anderson promoted in his response to Martin Lachance's Group Message, will not meet your demanding flight controller requirements, you might want to become a member of the Pixhawk 2 User Group.

  • Hi people, we, my cousins and I may have just come across a "bad" Pixhawk. No amount of rebooting will give a successful accelerometer calibration. We constantly get "calibration failed.
This was purchased from an authorized 3DR dealer in Singapore. If it is busted, I hope we can get a r placement as this is the first install. Whereas mine has been in several craft, a tricopter, and two planes.
Has anyone come across the same problem? Is this the dreaded " bad accel error" I have read about?
  • Thanks Rodney Johnson for your suggestion. It worked. Going to Tokoroa Friday for the Maiden flight.

  • Hi guys and gals, Im having issues with my pixhawk for some reason it is not recording data flash logs i did a mapping mission but when i plug it in via USB and try to download there is nothing there.

I tries setting LOG_BITMASK to the default pixhawk settings and i also tried just camera in log_bitmask and still nothing does anyone know a solution? THANK YOU !

  • The Pixhawk in the Sky Hunter surely is a weird beast. Initially I couldn't complete an ACCEL calibration as it would freeze up after each step of laying it on its side, front, back etc. At the time I was getting constant pre arm warnings of AHRS, Inconsistent compass etc etc. I installed copter and calibrated everything and had noticeable fewer issues. Re installed plane and found that I could now calibrate ACCEL although still getting a lot of AHRS warnings. Been raining here for the last couple of days so have been unable to place it outside to obtain a good gps lock. I will let you know how I get on when I do.

  • I also have multiple Pixhawks and each have their unique issues. At one time I setup 2 Pixhawk copters, both identical builds, PIDs the same, and they behaved differently. Even with identical GPS/Compass's, one got a GPS lock immediately, the other took forever. Pixhawk has a mind of its own!

I recommend you start over! Install plane so it clears out copter, and then reinstall copter, and complete all the mandatory hardware installs.

Thanks for replying. I will do as you suggest and get back to you.

Try loading a copter program onto pixhawks. Do a mock setup and take the pixhawk outside during calibration.
If everything works without error then you know that is not the pixhawk or its hardware it's a issue with Arduplane V3.5.0 code.
Or load with an older version of Arduplane and see if you get the same issue.
  • Hi Guys
Although I've got two Multi Rotors using Pixhawks, I'm still very much a novice, and I'm pleading for help with my problem.
I've fitted a Pixhawk to my first plane (Sky Hunter)
    RX EZHUF 8 ch lite
    TX Taranis
Mission Planner Ver 1.3.32.9 build 1.1.5778.1142
    Firmware Arduplane V3.5.0
1/ getting extreme latency from TX to servos of about 1 sec, although sometimes it seems longer.
2/ Bad AHRS. After googling the subject, I see a number of people have encountered it but no solutions.
3/ Can't calibrate accelerometers. Mission planner basically freezes every time I hit a key to receive the next instruction to , say, place on the left side.
4/ In my efforts to sort these issues out, I noticed that when I go to the Terminal function, pick Pixhawk from the drop down menu and hit connect, I get a never ending stream of what looks like computer programing scrolling up the screen, and can't use any of the other functions as it's locked into this streaming.
Can someone please help before I do something stupid like go buy a NAZA.

  • Ken,
I did the calibration a couple of times and think I may have a bad 3dr gps/compass module. At one point in mission planner the quad looked like it was rotating while sitting on my table. I wish there was a way to test the internal sensors. It took a big shock when I crashed it.

Hi everyone,Recently I've got my first pixhawk CUAV v5+. I'm amazed to see one thing that through one USB port only we can flash code and read the logging data. To understand how is it working I started looking schematic but didn't understand anything. Can someone please tell how is that working?

Tutorial: Build Autonomous Drone - Using SLAM In GPS Denied Environment For Position Estimation

I have been posting a series of tutorials on how to build an autonomous drone.
