    Google do not allows to export it's 3d layer.

    There are a lot of object available from https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/.

    To import 3D building models into UgCS, create a unique object for each source - click the Map options (globe icon at the very top right-hand corner of the screen) and click on the Map layers button, select 3D objects tab. Upload the new models of buildings. It is possible to change the models from enabled to disabled source list. «Focus» button will displays the region of the map of the imported object.

    It is possible to use 3D objects in KMZ format in UgCS. Flight pattern by default is 20m from vertical plane, this distance may also be increased, depending on expected images details. 3D model is not mandatory, most important is to have accurate map with correct elevation data and object location for setting correct start points. If available, RTK is recommended as additional safety measure.

  • Hey Janis,

    It seems that the Facade scanning tool is only as good as the structure model. What source do you use for your structure models usually? If you don't use a source, do you have best practices for flight planning a building beforehand to build the structure model? Last thing, do you recommend using RTK style drones since the surrounding areas might cause the unit to lose GPS? Thank you in advance for the help, I'm excited about this new feature but want to have my ducks in a row before I start pushing it out to clients.

  • Hi Mike,

    Flight paths are generated by UgCS. After you place point A and point B, calculations are done based on input parameters - Minimum height, Maximum height, Distance  to facade, Forward overlap, Side overlap, Pattern - vertical or horizontal.
