About Me:

Amateur R/C plane & heli flier, I run and program complex CNC machining (5-axis mill and 10-axis swiss machines) for a living. I'd rather be working with a machine or car or motorcycle or soldering or woodworking or camping/hiking than play sports or watch TV...

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

UAVs are composed of everything I love working on... although the programming will be new, possibly challenging, but I don't see that as a roadblock.

"Some food for thought: there may be measurable efficiency lost by absorbing torque in the rubber mounts... Pedal a bike with full suspension set to full travel and you will burn many more calories than pedaling the same distance with the suspension…"

"I don't want MK fireworks kit... but if I'm understanding Jani correctly, the hexa setup does not us I2C, just 6x fast PWM, so there *shouldn't* be fireworks of any sort. Maybe later I'll start thread to inquire about experiences with hexa platform…"

"I've heard of hash-octo frames losing control after loss of one motor, but everything I've read about the hexa design is that it still is stable and controllable with only 5 motors working. Have you had different experience?"

"@Denny
Although I agree the quad is more efficient, I'm surprised you're not going with more rotors for the sake of safety/liability, especially if you're doing video on pro level."

"Jani,

Can you elaborate on "Sure you can use all 6 PWM outputs but it means lower resolution"?  Does this mean that the ardupirate hexa runs at least 2 channels on a lower resolution PWM?

I am about finished designing CF hexa frame in…"
