About Me:

I'm a software engineer by trade. I got into the electronics hobby about 6.5 years ago. That quickly expanded to include quadrocopters and other R/C vehicles. Lately, I've also been watching the 3d printer space. I'm the father of two boys under the age of three that keep me really busy.

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

I am interested in aerial photography, quadrocopters, and autonomous vehicles. I'd love to eventually be able to create something that could complete the objectives of the robo magellan contest (whether or not I ever actually enter it).

I have a Futaba T7CAP transmitter w/ a 72Mhz PPM receiver. Calibrating the transmitter via the configurator never succeeds. Here is what I have tried:1) Verified the receiver works by directly plugging in an esc to the receiver.2) Verified the…

"I'd like to see the creators of the Mikrokopter, NG-UAVP, and arducopter quadrocopters interviewed. It'd be fun to hear about their takes on where they see quads heading, the history of each project, etc.

Hearing from William Premerlani and Howard…"

"I recently disassembled my UAVP to start playing with an arduino using my existing sensors. I have been following the AeroQuad as I want to do something similar. I have three one-axis gyros where the AeroQuad using two two-axis gyros. It doesn't…"

"The cost to build a quadcopter varies based on which you choose and how much hobby RC equipment you already have. If you already have a lot of hobby equipment, you can get up and running for $500 - $1000.

I consider the Mikrokopter to be the…"

"Who wouldn't want to extend the flight duration of their UAV? That said, cost / weight is a factor. What is the initial investment? How much does it cost to refuel one? Do you have a website that provides more information? I looked at airenergy.de…"

"It depends on which one you build and how much work you are willing to put into building it.

Here is a good summary that someone else wrote:

I'd add that you can now purchase the…"

"Have you looked at the other quad rotor UAVs out there to see how they do it? There's the UAVP (uavp.ch), Mikrokopter (http://mikrokopter.de/ucwiki/), BigQuadro (http://www.tt-tronix.de/), and probably others. At least the first two in the list are…"
