About Me:

Lifelong engineer & aviation enthusiast, I also worked as a contractor for the FAA to modernize their networks and infrastructure, as well as the ATC communications systems used in 22 Air Route Traffic Control Centers (ARTCCs).

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

I'd like to build one or two to test some of my theories - a ducted-fan flying wing as well as a multi rotor copter, both with the intelligence to avoid collisions and find their way home safely in case they can't hear me anymore. I just heard about using UHF for remote control and think it's brilliant. I am just starting to build my first 3D printer that I hope to use to build my first serious UAV with - of my own design, which will be an ambitious flying wing propelled by EDF and due to a unique new design, should be capable of VTOL as well as STOL. I just began negotiations with a manufacturer about developing this platform to serve multiple interests, from hobbyist to professional. It should be capable of performing laser-line and microwave radar terrain mapping, standard FPV and FLIR video. Back to the 3D printer project - I am repurposing a professional "Liquid Handling System" that is 3' wide and 28" deep and 23" tall for the build space and the machine has 20 micron repeatability in 6 axis. It weighs a lot, but with this platform I have my choice of making a laser or DLP-based liquid resin printer, an FDM printer and even add a computerized Dremel mill to to the accessories. In addition to the impressive specs, the controller operates both electric and pneumatic accessories and can operate six different liquid injection containers - meaning that I could conceivably create a true-color 3D printer by mixing different primary colors to get the desired color tone. So you can tell I have a tendency for dreaming big. I hope I can contribute to this community's synergistic capabilities.

Although it would be nice to have access to this design as an open-source file set, Adrián has already shared that he is interested in capitalizing on his hard work in ways that would benefit his hobby/profession and I have offered to assist…"

Your design and renderings are truly exceptional and I complement you on your capabilities.  I believe that you could easily license or sell your design to a company that I was discussing a similar situation with today (a different product)…"
