"Thanks for your input. I certainly have considered using a quadcopter and based on other blogs on diydrones they definately are a great platform. Thing is, I do not think I would be able to get the flight time I desire with a quadcopter. What I want…"

"Ok, little progress update.... last blog I posted that I was planning on doing a 3d mock-up and a build schedule b/c I wasn't working for 4 days. Well I ended up working 3 of those days so I didn't have much time. Good thing though, bringing in more…"

"Just got off the phone with a gentleman for a company that sells nitro engine alternators, they are are $1200 and he said a system with a battery charger would probably be about $2500. Ouch, that's going to have to either wait until the end of the…"

Nicholas Winkel commented on Brian's blog post Wireless RF Transceiver 431-470MHz - Good Enough for Learning?
"I think getting a HAM License can be a valuable tool for many of the people that are serious about their projects.

What level benefits r/cer's the most? Technician, General, or Extra class?"

"Not asking anyone to support it (unlees they want to). The project got accepted at Pozible.com ->  http://www.pozible.com.au/index.php/archive/index/957/description/0/0"

"It is not discounted... I would like VTOL if possible, however b/c I would like it to be launched from a boat. Under ideal circumstances I think STOL would be the preferred for less power consumption."

"Yes you do win... lol, I got 4 days off in a row after tomorrow morning I am going to post a 3d mock-up of the modifications that I am going to make to the predator airframe for VTOL and where the other systems will go (hybrid powerplant, etc.,), I…"

"Looks like they already sale some kits with carbon fiber overlay... I will probably have to spring for that, good job pointing that out. I'll probably start with the balsa as well as the other power glider to test out different systems and then in…"

"Sorry Gary, did not realize I was breaking the rules... the purpose of the picture was just that it was my last project, I was trying to show that I complete things as someone was trying to imply I couldn't follow through with what I say.

"Thanks Gerry for your positive input!

Yes you understood correctly and I was wondering the same thing about using the alternator as a starter, I believe it should be possible.

I also plan on starting on the power plant, after I modify the…"

"Some other information about the project: There will be a nitro alternator as well as a battery. To provide power to all of the systems and electrical motors. I am contemplating using model rocket motors to allow RAT (rocket assisted take-off).…"

"And why not? If the airframe is used to hunt people in a larger form, couldn't this be used to find game as well? Like I said to each his own, the reasons you may think it's ridiculous might be the very reasons it appeals to certain crowds."

"Well I am going to attempt it with this platform, might not be easy, but, I believe I can pull it off. I am not sure exaclty how fish detection will end up working, maybe infrared won't help in that area. I do know that at low altitudes schools of…"
