  • I am still trying to figure what I should try for a range finder (sonar Ping, EZ-4, or
an Infrared Proximity Sensor- like the Sharp GP2Y0A02YK0F) for auto-landing or landing assist.

What sort of resolution did you get from the EZ-4 range sensor? Are you plannig to use it pointing downwards for range finding and/or autolanding? Did you test it with different speeds and ground textures (grass, flat surface road, etc)?

Can you post the code for it?

    Thank you.
  • One other dumb comment, I am NOT using the accelerometer for flight stabilization, I left it in there for measurement of vibration and so forth, it will give me somethign besides temperature to data log. I use the FMA Copilot for flight stabilization.
  • I recommend the Maxbotics EZ-4 range sensor as a strong buy, after some unique filtering, the return is alot more stable then the Ping ))) sensor. Seems a bit more durable, like the type you finder in sonic measuring tapes. The nice thing is that it supports 3 formats for output of the range which by the way is done on the sensor circuit, not via coding. It supports pulse width, serial and analog. I used pulse width as this was the easiest for my amatuer electronics brain could handle.
