Hi Samuel. Yeah, I did an AutoTune with both APC 14x4.5 and CF 15x5.5 and the results were pretty interesting. Yes, there is a full inch difference in diameter, but the difference in PIDs was significant. With the APCs I got an average P rate of 9.5 while the CF props returned a value of 7.4. Recorded vibration levels for both were well below average yet you can definitely see the difference in recorded video -- especially hovering.
The APCs have slightly more mass but I suspect the key is in the blade shape and stiffness. As an aside, the APCs tended to generate a lot or harmonics on my quad that I suspect would be cancelled by the additional motors in hexes and octos.
The only CF blades I've test so far are the exaggerated paddle design -- i.e. Tarot and Hobby King. Haven't messed with Graupner because they're so d*mned expensive.
Fantastiche! Love the landing gear and that belt-driven gimbal is superbo! Your own design? I also use APC props but they seem to perform better (with cameras) on hexacpoters and octocopters than quadcopters.

Ok thanks. Im flying a quad and wondered about the prop thing.

Bravo!
Why dont you fly with carbon fiber props?
