Both EZs are identical except for an first gen APM 1 in EZ One. I went with the 3 bladed prop instead of cutting a groove in the fuselage that some do when adding a longer 2 blade. Of course, I added a larger rudder as most do, but not for airframe One, since I was worried the ArduPilot could induce a death spiral by commanding a sharp turn. Actually, I stopped work on EZ # 1 and decided the EZs were getting very cramped for an AP on board, so they are my FPV birds and the Cessna 337 is my drone.
No, I rec'd advice on this site about modding the EZStar due to the low performance out of the box.
I changed out the stock setup for an Align 430L 2550 KV brushless motor (3.16mm shaft) &adapter, and a CastleCreations Phoenix 35, MasterAirScrew 3Blade 6X4 prop (pusher), and I use 3S 15c 2100mah lipo battery for e motor, but separate batteries for the video and cam.
As per your aluminium spine, I added a CF rod down the spine to stiffer up the fuse, and another the length of the wings, not including the curled wing tips.
I like the 3 blade pusher prop were you using the stock motor? I am going to mount the radian motor on a pylon and push it from the back in case there are issues with turning the motor backwards pulling on the bolts, and maby a thrust bearing in the motor itself. The aluminum "Spine " will be for when it lawn darts!
