  • I don't rely have any issues, the diversity is more instead of a tracking system.(so i can fly planes without gps downlink) I might have two patch antennas on the ground to be able to cover a larger area, or even have them motorized to turn in direction of the plane (horizontal).
  • Try a circularly polarized antenna on the plane. That would probably fix your issues over diversity antennas. That's mostly a solution for multipath, where I bet your issues would be from antenna nulls.
  • I have both kx171 and kx191, the 191 is better quality (and has nightvision) but it is also larger and heavier. But for the easystar i would go for the kx191, i think it is possible to remove metal from that cam to reduce weight.

The woodwork is from rangevideo, and its very nice, the pan servo is modded to do 180 degrees..

I am curious to try and build a plane with ardupilot, thats my plans for summer...
  • That thing is sweet. Im totally getting one. I was wondering if I should do the KX171 pr 191 but it seems the 191 has better video quality with the couple videos I have seen so far.

    See rangevideo for the kit.
  • Holy crap that is beautiful. I am looking at getting an easy star for a drone and thought about doing some wood work to hide and clean things up a bit. Did you make the wood parts yourself? I know its a dumb question considering the hobby but man they look so good. If you did, what tools do you use to build something like that? Im new to RC and dont even have a plane as of yet so Im not aware of all the tools yet to do this stuff. :D Keep it up.
  • nice lol
  • I am building a rssi based diversity system using microcontrollers, i might even build rssi based tracking in the future :-)
  • now all you have to do is replace your antenna tracking unit with an automated system;)
