Shadow 200 Pics from Oshkosh Today

Some pics I took of a Shadow 200 at Oshkosh AirVenture today. Pilot said most of the $800,000.00 dollar cost is in the thermal imaging camera and electronics. If the aircraft is unresponsive or out of control, they deploy a parachute that brings it to the ground upside down so as to not damage the camera.

  • It's there so that other aircrafts, mainly helicopters can see the Shadow with IR Goggle of course - you know, air space separation, etc...
  • Can you please explain its purpose in more detail? It is a very cool looking device.
  • It's an IR LED stobe for night flight into hostile areas.
