Tandem Wing Prototype - Ultra-Low-Tech

Back Yard Engineering at it's funnest! One balsa board, two sets of bent up hobbyzone wings, some rubber bands and an "If Marcy 1 can do it, so can I" attitude...

I almost have something good enough to share, but I took a bad tumble and bent both my left wings... Now I just bank to the left. I need to add some strength to my good wings so I can continue to dial in. But before I got the bad bump I had one toss that really surprised me on how well it flew with just a small push it really scoots...

I think I'll order a couple sets of Number 3 flat wing cores from Flying Foam Store. I can get two sets of EPS 72" Cores for around $30. The wings I have now (parkzone freedom flyer and Swift) cost $33 for the two sets so it's actually a better deal to go with the cores, I'm guessing they won't have the weakspot that these onese have where the wings halves join together...

This is a backyard engineering effort, so I'll put this out to anyone willing to answer... I'm trying to just get the plane to glide nice w/just the body and wings to get a base on CG (something to start with) then I can go off the weight of the plane, bat, electronics, cameras to figure out which motor to get and then ultimately balance all that stuff so it flies well (and balanced)...

So if anyone has a better way to figure that out, that will be less risky for my limited supply of wings, I'm very interested.

BTW, I think I like Sumo glue is good stuff.
