The plane used to be glow and there is alot of fuel soak in the nose.

Fuel soaked ply and balsa: wow I haven't had to worry about that for years!
In the old days, we used to use an instant drycleaning paste/spray call K2r to pull the fuel out of ply and balsa.
I don't know if this still exists, since it is not exactly what you would call environmentally correct (nasty fumes)
