3D Robotics IRIS+ Mapping & Follow-Me Demo

I took the new 3DR IRIS+ out for some mapping testing using the stock IRIS+, Gopro Hero 3 Black and DroidPlanner 2.0 running on a Nexus 7 1st Gen tablet.  We also tried out the follow-me feature which seemed to work well although you should use with a gimbal for best results.  Checkout the video below-

  • The soil looks like an Apollo moon landing :)

  • Any word when the new firmware will be ready for folks who want to upgrade instead of a brand new buy?
  • @Sam, I did actually use the Dronie button to do what was seen in the video. So unless I just happened to walk the exact auto mission without knowing it, it was doing follow me.
  • Just to not confuse people, I assume you hit the "Follow" button, the "Dronie" button does a short away-and-back auto mission.

  • Very interesting. Thanks for taking the time to post this.

  • cool video

i wasnt into mapping because i thought the post editting would be complicated but you've made that seem breezy with I.C.E.

    Thanks again

  • That was about the best produced video so far.  Mapping unpopulated fields is definitely in the bag.

  • @Roberto, Like I say in the video, a brushless gimbal is a must for any sort of usable video while using the Follow-me functionality.  Congrats on your video, looks great!
