3689432775?profile=originalHi there! Finally you can pre-order the ArduIMU V3 here.. You can find more info abut it in my last post here

The final version of the board for full production is here, I'm expecting to start shipping them this Friday or Monday.

We are still working on documentation and giving the final cosmetic touches to the example code to have it ready before you have one in your hands and at the same time we are shipping samples to developers to do a full DCM integration.

From now on our new color will purple! All our new products will feature a Lilypad style look!

(Note: this is a stand-alone IMU, and is not designed to be a replacement for the "Oilpan" IMU shield of ArduPilot Mega.)

  • I hope this is not a dumb question.  How does this IMU board relate to the ArduPilot Shield?  How would a standalone IMU be put to use?

  • @Fab: Chill out dude, do you have a problem with success and people making money? Be thankful for what we have nowadays ... Before there was radioshack, tandy, heathkit, and other crap. Now we've got sparkfun, diydrones, adafruit, dangerousprototypes, seeed, etc.. The diy/maker scene is better than it has been in a looong while. DIYDrones is pretty open about their business, and even says straight up how they price their products proportional to component cost.

@Chris: What you said was factually correct, but as with many things in life could have been done better. Learn this tiny lesson, move on, and keep on rockin'.

@Kirill its to try make products look more pretty to attract other demographics to DIYdrones :P

Also I was wondering if eagle files will be released for this board, I noticed that for boards such as HMC5883L magneto board has eagles files in PDF form?

  • It looks nice, but I'm just wondering, why did you choose Lilypad style?
  • Since the MPU6000 chip handles the sensor fusion and provides the processed angles, why would you need to implement DCM as well?  Are there other sensor inputs that you are accounting for with the DCM?

  • When will we have the code. I would be happy with something similar to the imu v1.8 with the v2. Is all the hardware/ code working. Give me Euler angles and such and I can handle the rest. Like is the DCM and mag working?

Jordi - I'd like to pre-order one, but would rather know first if it will be an easy item to use with the ArduPilot (legacy) or take some work.  You say it's pinout is compatible with the ArduIMU v2 but how about interacting with the older ArduPilot?

BTW remember that ArduIMU V3 includes the magnetometer. V2 doesn't and is more expense.

@I.S. MPU6000 has been tested very, very well and even flown successfully (is very promising, a lot better from what we currently have right now). We are cooking something behind the scenes. ;-)

You will know next week. But remember ArduIMU is an IMU not an autopilot!

  • @David: The APM mainstream will have the APM board and the Oilpan (the blue sensor board), however the MPU6000 sensor used in this IMU is supposed to be used in the next gen sensor board.

No, it is supposed to be an IMU as is, to use in whichever project you may need. It hasn't flight control nor navigation, but the former could be implemented I guess.
