Hi All,Been hanging around here for quite a while now and gleaning as much information as i can, maybe its time to give something back. One of the biggest problems we found was that when in the field, its hard to get all the information where you need it, re-sizing all the windows, if you touch the pad, you can lose the window you want, always the GS, hard to find the pointer to bring it back, when you have one eye on the aircraft one eye on this...So this is my attempt..I hope its usefull to you. Please give feedback as to you thoughts and any improvements.GROUND STATION 2.6.4 UPDATE::1024x768 GCS for smaller LaptopsTrue speed indicator updated for greater accuracyYou can set True speed to MPH/KMH (defaults to KMH) & Altitude to Meters/feet (default Meters)Tme Left estimator, a better accuracy with a new gauge. (you need to set Amps FT to what your aircraft draw flat out)Amps / Watts added (again needs to be set up bottom left with your cell count and Mah)Complete colour re-design for ease of view outside, on a sunned out dull laptop.THINGS TO DO:Fix the irritation, when you click the FIND UAV button so that it auto pops to the position, at the mo you have to double click the position in GE then the GS rotates to where it needs to be. STILL NOT FIXEDFlight trackin. STILL NOT FIXEDSorting some innacuracies with Time estimator. BETTERAP Mode being added on 265Enjoy.Try MY Version GE and DONT update it!!!!! this might solve the GE window fro a couple of you guys....I know that GE changes the Callin API about as often as they change underware........so has been a problem fro all integrators...however as i said before in NOT a programmer, 30 years as an aerodynamcist aircraft designer, and 4 years as a military field asset, so please forgive my crude programming. Thanks to the 'Crashing Dutchman' for updating the look and feel.GCS264a Source.zipGCS264a.zip 1024/768 resolutionGCS264b not uploaded yetGoogleEarthWin.exeLV 8.5 or 8.5.1 works available by google search or just in the last line of top of this page : Runtime or8.5 is Here (thanks Morli)Doc.
Did I mess something or the personal configs (battery etc.) are not memorized?
Just finding a little annoying to have to put those values in, every time I open the GS.
I know this is a dumb question... is there a way?
Doc, I did notice the file marker name, and I had this changed, I guess I was lucky to see that... I think making this file a variable may improve some. I did notice my vi name sometimes changes to "Altitude: 183 [Gcs.vi]" I have no idea what this means. it also does it in the original vi. I will upload some images tonight. I did install the GE version you linked but this was late last night and did not tested again after that. will try again tonight.
No disrespect to millswood but i wanted to create our own., so the software is written, its very rough, but funcional.
So the LV solution wors as follows...
Joypad run in Lv, uploads teh commands via xbee/xtend, obviously as it stands teh GPS occupies the UART, but with the mega or one AP + arduino, we get flight controls, + AP. softwaere is written to control RS232 cameras also but nto releasing that bit...
but it includes the part for a gimbal control...
this is not rocket science, but integration is complex....
however, teh ardustation deosnt use the upload side of the xbee, so its free to do with what we want!
Amen Doc, have you thought about millswood to try the joystick/pad controls? Paralleling the RX would be ok , how about txing ? I guess the antenna tracker does not need to TX , only listening but other( GCS) tx would cause some issues to tracking station modem, right, how do you suggest we can address it?
Ok simpler than it looks, you can parallel the serial outputs....this is what i have done with the downlink, so i get Ardustation and GCS....
uplinking is somthing we have half working, so that in the not too distant future we can control teh uav from a joypad on teh laptop and use the serial up to fly it/switch to autopilot. There a little latency, but unless your AP'ing a turbine, it flys fine, the latency feels a little odd, bit like going to bed with your socks on.....but this is only the first version, im sure we can refine it far more,
for normal flight distances the xbees are fine (tested to a mile here), i havtn dared to go any further, as if its fails, you have def lost teh aircraft....watching the RSSI like a hawk!!
thinking on how to use all this soft and hardware, I would like to connect the Ardustation (the hardware one) to the Groundstation. This way it should be possible to have this wonderful platform with the tracking antenna.
Is it possible? If not I have to buy another modem...
My goal is to have a tracking antenna for video and Groundstation (nice to have a flight log too) for telemetry.
It remains to solve the telemetry data receiving: tracking antenna #2, or high power modems?
also if you are mucking about with the code....look at the file name marker in the GE section of my code, if its not the same name as teh file you are working with it will never show!....caused a few sleepless nights that bugger did.........the upsetting thing was it was painfully obvious and i missed it, anyway, check that first...
resizin the window....unless you have your GE max to window again that wont shrink...drop it back to a small window then drag it...not a biggie that one.
Happy... thanks, will be in touch!.....just taking 1/2 hour for a cuppa before we start again, thought i would catch up on the world of clever gits and see whats cooking..
I am new to all of this and I am beginning to learn LabView. I am using the 2009 Trial. I am rewriting the application to work with Attopilot and I am having some issues with the KML, it does not show the widget on the GE window, also I can not reduce the window size of GE so it fits in the embedded window. I will post some images latter tonight.

again just my thoughts...make any sence?

you ARE using the GE version posted here yes?
