@Jonathan. That is something we've thought about. We wouldn't offer a generic service for that (there are lots of good companies, such as Advanced Circuits, that already offer that service and are set up to automatically test gerbers etc), but potentially for UAV hardware developed by the community that would be sold in the store. This is what Sparkfun and others do--if you've got a working prototype of a board that would be of interest to our community, we'd be happy to talk about manufacturing and selling it for you.

@TimL: We'll continue to support the current generation of hardware for a long time. Right now we're just going through the last batch of bug fixes and will release the code as 2.7, which should be very solid. As for other header files, that's something we'd look to the community to create and share. We're still flying thermopiles, along with the IMU, but have pretty much put the EM406 behind us. We'll continue to support it, but will as always encourage people to move forward with better technologies as they emerge. We're at the leading edge of a fast moving industry, so continual evolution is part of the credo. For people who just want an autopilot that works and doesn't change much, there are commercial autopilots that we can heartily recommend (we plam to release a version of ArduPilot that's more plug-and-play, too)
  • Excellent factory floor at diydrones, certainly a very healthy company building there! I am looking forward to getting my mega oil pan.

I can understand that you are keen to drive your business forward with these exciting new products but let's not forget the existing investment some of us have made in your ardupilot system.

It would be good to finish off the previous product by testing imu and ardupilot with the items previously sold/recommened in the shop and regardless of that, to release more header files for different planes that are either in production or easier to source.

I noticed in a blog that you say you guys are now only flying faster planes that don't require air speed indicators and by that I assume you also mean thermopiles and em406

Very impressive, Jordi your running with the big dawgs! I bet you had a blast at factory training...
Now you will need a packing/shipping robot to handle all the orders!!
  • These guys have put some much time not to mention their own money into this and people keep complaining re the price?? Thanks for all of your efforts and constant support 24 7 I personal think the charges are ridiculously low considering all things.
  • Muy bien, Jordi! Me encantaria tener eso en mi garage, pero mi vieja me mata si lo compro!
