AUAV-X1 , a new vision of the PX4 autopilot

Arsov RC Technology is proud to introduce a new vision of the PX4 v2 Autopilot board. The Arsov AUAV X1 is another elegant design from Phillip Kocmoud and Nick Arsov. Our goal was to product a high quality, compact, lightweight and cost effective alternative to the PX4 V2 or PixHawk autopilots. This is our first attempt to join the PX4 community after developing several successful designs for the MatrixPilot community. After we have finalized the design we will release the design files and schematics. The schematics will be released immediately to new owners. Initial supplies are limited and a deposit insures a boards in the first production run.

New power supply based on TPS63061 DC-DC Buck-Boost
The TPS63061 device provides a power supply solution for products powered by either three-cell up to six-cell alkaline, NiCd or NiMH battery, or a one-cell or dual-cell Li-Ion or Li-polymer battery. Output currents can go as high as 2A while using a dual-cell Li-Ion or Li-Polymer Battery, and discharge it down to 5V or lower. So you can connect a 2 cell Li-Po directly to the AUAV X1, and run it completely flat before brownout. Since it's a buck-boost converter, you can also power from a 5V BEC while still in regulation.     The 3-rd batch is 100% preordered. You can place a preorder for the 4-th batch ( sales@arsovtech.com ).

    I prefer uBlox modules with X2...like Neo-7M, 8M, etc. You'll just need to change the GPS baudrate.

  • Nick - when will the X2's be back in stock ?  and also does the GPS module you have work with pixhawk as is or will I need to change its firmware ?  Looking for something that will stop the LIDAR I have jamming my GPS….

    The BLUE LED is connected to the IO SOC as of the original PIXHAWK and you have to look at it's status in the IO SOC section here - https://pixhawk.org/users/status_leds . I have to fix this in my manual. The GPS lock is monitored in the PIXHAWK by the RGB big LED. When it goes solid BLUE, it means a 3D fix. The small BLUE LED on both X2 and PIXHAWK monitors the heartbeat and firmware loading.

    About the resistor...it must work just fine....just check whether you have shortened the gate to GND ( source pin ) while soldering the 10k resistor. I tried this on X1 board and it works. You can check whether the gate is shortened to GND by measuring the resistance between it and GND.

    Thanks for the clarification, Nick, the manual said the following so I was a bit worried:

    BLUE = GPS / Position LED
       OFF = No position sensor / GPS module found / Connected
       SLOW BLINK = GPS or OPTICAL FLOW module found
       FAST BLINK = Error
       SOLID = Position lock ( GPS or another sensor )


    BTW, I put the 10K resistor where you suggested but it made the whole system quiet, I just wanted the long continuous beep on startup to be muted. I guess it's not possible to just stop that first long beep.

    There are a lot of differences between X1 and X2. X2 is the revised and better designed version. It also has a combo IMU - MPU6000+LSM303D+L3GD20H. Btw, X1 was replaced by X2 a few months ago.

    Don't worry. The blue LED shows the GMU heartbeat. If you want to have the 3D fix status visible, you have to add an RGB I2C LED as of the PIXHAWK, but you have this 3D fix LED on your GPS module.

    Nick, I've got an oddity, the blue LED on my X1 board blinks fast despite having 10 sats and HDOP of 1.9, it never goes solid. Don't seem to affect the flying, but it's just weird.
